2.0 Introduction to Week 2
Welcome to Week 2!
Objective: Students will learn to independently navigate the scriptures to gain meaning and application using Blue Letter Bible and GotQuestions.org.
There is an old saying that says, "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime."
Instead of telling you what the Bible says, we will teach you how to "fish" for the answers you seek from the scriptures.
Bible study is one of the most fundamental tools any believer can have in their tool bag. In this on-site class, we will go through a crash course in how to study the Bible. We will learn some very basic tools, methods, and techniques to equip you to study the Word on your own and learn of its vast and deep treasures.
Paul writes to Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:15 (ESV):
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
The Greek word translated 'rightly handling' is or-thot-om-eo and a direct translation would be to "cut straight". By the end of this week, you will be equipped to do exactly that; rightly divide the Word of Truth.
